Engineering
Defeating the Richmond Clay. We design sub-surface drainage infrastructures that protect your foundation and restore your property's utility.
Engineered
Certainty
We don't just "do landscaping." We are certified structural specialists navigating Richmond's unique geological and regulatory landscape.
SINCE 2012
Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute
Certified Master Installers following national pavement engineering standards.
National Concrete Masonry Association
Certified Structural Wall Specialists for critical gravity and geogrid systems.
Virginia Conservation Assistance Program
Certified Watershed Protection Designers for stormwater credit projects.
Class B Contractor License
Fully licensed and insured for heavy residential and commercial structural work.
Minimum Grade
Utilizing laser-transit leveling to ensure positive flow—even on the flattest West End lots.
Sch-40 Infrastructure
No corrugated pipe. We build using rigid, cleanable, commercial-grade PVC systems.
Rebate Design
Certified designers for the Virginia Conservation Assistance Program—reimbursing your green infra.
Interception Rate
Advanced French drain orientation designed to capture groundwater before it hits your foundation.
The Perched Water Crisis:
Richmond's Sub-Surface Reality
Most yards in Richmond aren't "flat"—they are hydrophobic sponges. The Piedmont clay that defines our region acts as a structural barrier, preventing rainwater from reaching deeper aquifers. This creates a Perched Water Table—a layer of saturated earth that sits directly against your home's foundation. Learn more about mitigating clay soil saturation.
Standard "landscape" drainage fails because it only addresses surface water. Our Civil-Grade Drainage Stack addresses the subterranean pressure:
- Separation Geotextiles: Surrounding our aggregate with non-woven fabric to prevent silt from clogging the drainage chimney.
- Velocity Flow Logic: Calculating pipe diameter and slope to ensure water moves fast enough to self-clean the system.
- Structural Discharge: Designing exit points that manage energy—preventing erosion at the street or swale.
"Water is the most destructive force in hardscaping. If you don't control where it goes, it will eventually control where your patio goes."
Permeability & VCAP Rebates
We are among a select group of Richmond contractors certified by the Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District. We don't just dig ditches; we design Best Management Practices (BMPs) that protect the James River watershed. Our permeable paver and dry-well systems often qualify for thousands of dollars in tax-free rebates.
The Sch-40 Mandate
Many contractors use cheap, black corrugated pipe. Over time, the weight of Richmond's wet clay crushes this pipe, rendering it useless. We exclusively use Rigid PVC Schedule 40. It is smooth-bore (no clogs), structurally sound, and can be professionally snaked if a root ever enters the system.

The Engineering Build Cycle
Site Hydro-Scan
Using elevation software to map the watershed of your property and identify catch points.
Trenching
Excavating structural channels with precision 1.5% fall toward the discharge zone.
Fabric-Wrap
Installing separation geotextiles to isolate the clay from our drainage aggregates.
PVC Fusing
Fusing rigid PVC lines with solvent weld to create a leak-proof structural utility.
Velocity Test
Dye-testing the system to ensure water moves at designed speeds for self-scouring.
